Environmental and social impact management
Strategic approach
The Elemental Group has strategically defined business development directions that support sustainable development. The ESG strategy identifies key areas in which actions are taken to best manage environmental and social impact.
The Elemental Group actively participates in the process of global actions aimed at implementing a circular economy. We recover critical raw materials that are essential for the low-emission transformation and the large-scale implementation of renewable energy sources, e-mobility and further digitalization. We operate based on the principle of responsible development.
MISSION
Our mission is to produce green metals that will enable sustainable development of the economy and ensure raw material security while minimizing the impact on the planet.
Strategic areas that we develop in our daily activities:

At Elemental Group, we have adopted the following ESG management structure. Every year, we prepare an ESG report, which is publicly available to all interested parties.

The basis of our internal ESG management system is local and European Union regulations, international best practices and guidelines, industry standards. In conducting our activities, we also invite you to share your opinions and report any potential violations.
Impact on the environment
The solution to limited metal resources, especially given the negative impact of traditional mining on the natural environment, is urban mining. Elemental Group recovers raw materials from waste generated in urban areas, including devices such as computers, televisions, mobile phones and household appliances.
Elemental Group manages waste collected from contractors and residents, ensuring it is properly processed. The Group is committed to maximizing the percentage of waste that is recycled, following the principles of the waste management hierarchy.
To effectively manage our environmental impact, we focus on:
-
1. Increasing the amount of waste that is recycled
-
2. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
-
3. Lowering energy consumption
-
4. Expanding the share of green energy within the Organization
-
5. Reduction water pollution
-
6. Increasing investment in the latest waste recovery technologies
-
7. Raising ecological awareness
Environmental impact – mining vs. recycling
PGM extraction
Emissions
High - 77.0 kt/t
Energy intensity
High - due to the low concentration of platinum group metals (PGM) in the primary ore (26 g/t) and significant production losses.
Landscape impact
High - degradation of terrain, surface water reservoirs, hydrogeology and air quality.
PGM Recycling
Emissions
Low - 0.8 kt/t
Energy intensity
Moderate - due to the high concentration of platinum group metals (PGM) in the oxidation catalyst ore (100-7200 g/t) and much lower production losses.
Landscape impact
Moderate - non-temporary use of the land, which results in less landscape degradation.
Social impact
Elemental Group recognizes that the ongoing transition from a high-emission to a low-emission economy requires support for a just transition – one that respects the rights of employees, local communities and other members of society.
